Cannot Get Host Node Info on CheckPoint NGX 60 Smart Dashboard (SNMP Get failed)

You want to get a Host Node Info automatically from CheckPoint Smart Dashboard but when you press the Get button (1), you receives the following error: “MachineName: SNMP Get failed” (2).

First you will need to check if the SNMP Service is running in the Host Machine.

Starting Net-SNMP Service in Fedora Core

You noticed that the Net-SNMP already installed in your Fedora Linux.

But the service was not running.

[root@mailman snmp]# ps -ef | grep snmpd
root     3667     3369   0 19:40 pts/2     00:00:00 grep snmpd


See, no snmpd.pid found in the process list. Or type service snmpd status, you will see the result that snmpd is stopped.

[root@mailman snmp]# service snmpd status
snmpd is stopped

For Vista Users: Open Windows Firewall Settings. If you scroll through the Programs and Services selection box, you cannot find the SNMP Service check box. Therefore, you need to create it. Now click Add Port… Button (1).

Scroll the Program or port selection box until you found the SNMP Service check box (1). Now check the box, then click OK.
